Is it good to teach kids with the help of phonics sounds?

Because Phonics simplifies English into only 44 sounds, it is an excellent way to learn to understand the language. By breaking down words into their sounds, children can “decode” them rather than memorizing 1000’s words. Research has shown that Phonics can be one of the most effective ways for children to learn how to read. Start with the most accessible sounds. Next, move to the hardest sounds. Reading is easier if you learn Phonics.

Children can recognize the sounds that letters make, which will help them read and segment words. Spelling bee words can be used with all ages, although it is most effective with children aged 4-7.

Primary schools are teaching Phonics for young readers. Like learning words by shape and sight, Phonics gives you the chance to develop skills that can be used for reading any word. The skills learned will stay with the child all their lives and be a great stepping stone to further education.

It’s difficult for us to emphasize the importance of reading and language. Using phonics for kids is one proven way to increase literacy skills. We’ll be sharing with you some excellent phonics activity ideas that preschool professionals shared.

  1. Rainbow hop letter sounds

Just use colored paper and a marker and a die and a marker to create an alphabet stepping-stone. You can do this for any letter or as many as you want. Advanced learners may also be able to include “ch” and “sh” pieces. Your child will use the dice to determine the letter he or she lands on. This activity is perfect for children to play with their siblings, parents, and friends and teach them both counting and letter sound.

  1. Alphabet phonics clip cards

These colorful cards will allow your child time to practice word association or sounds, whether they are at work, waiting at the doctor’s surgery, or relaxing at their home. First, the adult calls the child to read a letter. The child replies by writing a word that begins with the letter. The adult will then throw the ball to the child and ask them to find a word. To make the game more interesting, you could kick the ball or chase each other with the ball to tag. Rhyming is another way to play. The thrower can provide a word for the catcher to rhyme.

  1. Create rhyming word

Create rhyming word lists with a paper towel rolling and clothes hanger (e.g., mat, cat, mat, or Sat). This helps your child identify word families, break down words, and create rhyming words. The basic setup is easy to transport, and it adds a fun twist to a basic activity in Phonics.

This simple activity will stimulate creativity in your child. Draw a simple picture on a chalkboard. Let your child name the letters. Ask them to identify and erase any items in their picture that begin with that letter.  For more detail take help from SpellQuiz.

  1. Use two words

They should raise their arms if two words start with an identical sound. But they should remain seated if the words are not the same sound. If you are playing with many children, you could create an elimination process so that only one winner can be determined.

  1. You can smack the letter

Preschoolers are sure to love using a flyswatter to hit the letters written on sticky paper and make them sound out. You can choose which letter sounds they should work on. This game can even become a race when played with a buddy. Children can play for points with up to three other children to see who can reach 10th place. If you’re playing with a large group, tournament-style play is possible.

Fill a large glass juice bottle with small items that start from different letters. Play with an alphabet deck and phonics clip cards. Let your child pick a letter, shake the bottle, and then hunt for the item that begins with the same letter.

Conclusion:  Phonics is typically learned in kindergarten to second grade. But, there are phonics activities that can be done at any age. These include fun and straightforward options for you and your child. We’ve collected the best resources on the internet for you and the preschooler.
